Peter Zaffaroni is the General Counsel at Avicena. He joined the company in 2026.

Prior to joining Avicena, Peter was Senior Transaction Counsel at the CHIPS Program Office in the US Department of Commerce, where he led the Program’s legal efforts on investments into Intel, Corning, Hemlock, Coherent, Bosch, USA Rare Earth, and xLight, among others. During his tenure at CHIPS, Peter played an important role in establishing the NSTC Investment Fund and thinking through novel issues surrounding government equity stakes in companies. Prior to CHIPS, Peter spent nearly a decade at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati representing technology and life sciences companies at all stages of their development, from seed-stage start-ups to mature public companies.

He graduated from Stanford and received his Juris Doctor from NYU.
