Dr. Raj Yavatkar

Dr. Raj Yavatkar is the Chief Technology Officer at Juniper Networks. Raj is responsible for charting Juniper’s technology strategy and for leading and executing the company’s critical technology innovations in Machine Learning-driven self-driving networks, security, App-aware assurance, application of GenAI, and hybrid cloud.
In the early part of his career at Intel, he was an Intel Fellow. There he drove new product initiatives in many areas including networking, virtualization, manageability, and SoCs. He created a new product category called programmable network processors and invented Active Manageability Technology (branded as Intel vPro) for Intel-based client and server systems.
At VMware, as a Sr VP and Fellow, Raj invented a new direction for hybrid clouds and then developed VMware Cloud Foundation — a new hybrid cloud automation platform that integrated compute, storage, and network virtualization with automated lifecycle management. The product is now the flagship product at VMware by Broadcom.
At Google, Raj led the Google Cloud networking team to deliver network virtualization platform and new networking products to differentiate from other public clouds.
Dr. Yavatkar is an IEEE Fellow, has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Purdue University, and holds more than 70 patents. Raj has co-authored five Internet standards. Dr. Yavatkar has also published more than 60 papers in academic journals and conferences and has coauthored the book, Inside the Internet’s Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP) published by John Wiley.
