Development Test Engineer

Role
To support our continued growth, we are recruiting for a Development Test Engineer, reporting to the Engineering Manager.  In this important role, you will work closely with other engineering team members to develop systems supporting R&D testing needs with emphasis on automating test systems. This role will suit a self-directed individual with a broad skillset who likes working as an integral member of a small, fast-paced team with diverse skills and experience. This role is a poor fit for specialists who are accustomed to working in large organizations with well-defined roles.

The role includes:

  • Work with other team members to formulate test system software specifications
  • Write automation software using popular hardware interfaces such as I2C, SPI, USB, GPIB, TCP/IP, RS-232 (serial)
  • Develop user GUIs for test systems and demonstration platforms
  • Formulate development plans and schedules
  • Manage any outside contractors associated with projects

Essential requirements

  • BSc/BEng in Electronic or Electrical Engineering / Physical sciences / Mechatronics / Computer Science or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in development of Python automation of test instruments
  • Ability to work in a self-directed manner in a fast-paced start-up environment
  • Experience with software version & defect tracking tools

Desirable

  • Experience in development of software supporting R&D and manufacturing data management
  • Experience in working with software version/revision control environments such as Git or SVN
  • Experience in development of drivers for interfacing with test equipment
  • Experience with statistical analysis and data visualization tools such as JMP, Tableau
  • Experience with interfacing with databases such as MongoDB
  • Knowledge of and experience with optical component testing
  • Experience in firmware development for embedded systems
  • Experience in development of PCB assemblies
