Sr. or Staff Equipment Engineer

Role: Sr. or Staff Equipment Engineer

Reporting to: Equipment & Facilities Director

Location: Sunnyvale, CA

Role:

  • Lead equipment upgrades, customizations, and repair activities
  • Modify/customize equipment to enhance its performance and/or capabilities
  • Drive new equipment installations
  • Work closely with process engineers to create advanced equipment solutions for complex wafer processing requirements
  • Establish long-term equipment performance improvement plans and utilize Statistical Process Control to maintain stability
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems and determine effective repairs and preventive measures
  • Generate preventive maintenance procedures

Requirements:

  • S. Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent (MS preferred)
  • 10+ years of related experience
  • Familiarity with a clean room environment, semiconductor processing equipment, high vacuum science, and plasma physics
  • Knowledge of E-beam evaporators, sputtering, ALD, RIE, ICP, PECVD, ashing, various types of vacuum pumps (cryo, turbo, mechanical, roots, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and program PLCs
  • Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and communicate significantly complex engineering problems
  • Hands-on with a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills and ability to overcome unforeseen challenges in a dynamic work environment with shifting timelines
  • Extremely organized, data-driven, and detail-oriented, with a strong desire to maintain thorough documentation and a baseline
  • Proficient with JMP software or other forms of data analysis
  • Knowledge of Semi E10 and equipment uptime metrics (MTBF, MTTR)
