Research & Development Facility Building Manager

Reporting to: Director of Facilities and Equipment Engineering

Location: Silicon Valley, CA 

 

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and highly qualified Building Manager to oversee the operations of our state-of-the-art Research and Development facility, which includes clean rooms and laboratories. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental health and safety (EHS), HVAC systems, and possess a comprehensive understanding of building management in a similar technical environment.

 

Responsibilities:

EHS Compliance:

  • Ensure strict adherence to environmental health and safety regulations within the facility.
  • Develop and implement safety protocols, emergency response plans, and ongoing safety training programs.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify and address potential safety hazards.

Facilities System Management:

  • Oversee the maintenance and operation of the facility’s HVAC, cleanroom systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with external contractors to schedule routine inspections, repairs, and upgrades.
  • Implement energy-efficient practices to minimize environmental impact and operational costs.

Building Maintenance:

  • Supervise the overall maintenance and cleanliness of the facility, including clean rooms and laboratories.
  • Coordinate with maintenance staff to address issues promptly and efficiently.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for critical equipment.

Permitting and Compliance:

  • Manage and renew city and state permits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Stay abreast of changes in building codes and regulations, updating procedures accordingly.
  • Work closely with regulatory agencies during inspections and audits.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Foster strong collaboration with research and development teams to understand their facility needs.
  • Communicate effectively with external vendors, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management on facility performance and compliance status.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facility Management, or a related field OR Proven experience in building management within a research and development environment, preferably with clean rooms and laboratories.
  • knowledge of environmental health and safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with HVAC systems and energy management practices.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a dynamic work environment.
